Scoliosis Awareness Charms
Scoliosis affects about 3 million people a year, with most cases developing during the preteen years. Females are ten times more likely to develop scoliosis than males. Children and adults with scoliosis tend to have poor body image, lower self-esteem, and pain. Tammy and Samantha Knox, both of whom have scoliosis, understand the struggles that scoliosis brings. Tammy, Samantha's mother, has lived with moderate scoliosis since she was 13. Samantha, age 15, was diagnosed with scoliosis when was 7 years old. Samantha's scoliosis is severe and is currently and successfully being treated with alternative therapy. Knowing first hand the insecurities, low self-esteem, poor body image, and pain that comes with scoliosis; they designed these charms to increase awareness for the millions of people who suffer from scoliosis and promote a message of hope for others dealing with this condition.
From each scoliosis charm sale, we will donate 10% to The Crooked Life Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit group that provides ScoliSmart Activity Suits to those unable to afford them. We also support scoliosis research through ScoliSmart clinics, a group of cutting-edge doctors who are committed to finding a cure for idiopathic scoliosis.
